David Ortiz Tired Of Red Sox 'Drama'

David Ortiz, Boston Red Sox hitter, has said he's tired of the "drama" with his team and made recent comments about making his mark elsewhere.

In an interview with ESPN’s Colleen Dominguez, Ortiz spoke about the situation with his current team.

"There's too much drama, man," Ortiz said in the interview. "There's too much drama. I have been thinking about a lot of things. I don't know if I want to be part of this drama for next year."

Ortiz spoke about the importance of owners addressing issues with the team.

"The owners need to take care of it right now so everybody can come in with a fresh mind next year and do what they're supposed to do," the Dominican hitter said.

Ortiz, also known as “Big Papi,” said his team’s loss in the playoffs was both upsetting and surprising.

"That was a surprise because no one expected to fail like that," he said. "No one expected us to be that bad after everything we had accomplished the whole season. It was devastating."

With rumors of unrest circulating about “Big Papi” in Boston, some have questioned whether the hitter would take his talents to New York City. Ortiz, however, did not confirm or deny any speculation about becoming a new addition to the Sox’s rival Yankees.

"That's something I gotta think about," Ortiz said. "I've been here on the Red Sox a long time, and I've seen how everything goes down between these two ballclubs."

However, Ortiz made sure to acknowledge the Yankees as a sound organization.

"It's great from what I hear," Ortiz said of the Yankees. "It's a good situation to be involved in. Who doesn't want to be involved in a great situation where everything goes the right way?”

For now, Ortiz said he just wants to play the sport he fell in love with.

“I just want to play baseball," he said. "I'm a winner, I play to win, I want to make good things go on around me."

David Ortiz hit .309 with 29 homers and 96 RBIs last season.
