David Wilson, Mindy McCready's Boyfriend, Dies of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound
'David Was My Soulmate,' Says McCready
David Wilson, Mindy McCready's boyfriend, was confirmed dead after the 34-year-old turned a gun on himself and took his own life Sunday in Heber Springs, Ark. Wilson, a record producer, had been with the country music star for two years and fathered a child with her, 9-month old Zayne.
David Wilson's death seemed to hit Mindy McCready hard, as she referred to him as her "soulmate" in a statement released Monday. Along with Zayne, he also acted as a father to Zander, McCrady's 6-year-old child with fellow country singer Billy McKnight.
"Today, we mourn the loss of my life partner and my children's father, David Wilson," McCready told FOX411. "David was my soulmate; he was a caregiver and guiding hand to our sons, Zander and Zayne. He was a precious gift from God to all of us and, yesterday, he returned home and is now with his mother and father."
"David loved and he was loved. Those who knew and loved him will miss him; those who did not know David missed the opportunity to know a truly loving and gifted man," she added.
Now, arrangements must be made for Wilson's funeral, where family and friends will gather to remember him.
"They're working on funeral arrangements and figuring out where to go from here," McCready's representative, Kat Atwood, told People magazine.
McCready herself has struggled with depression, addiction, and suicidal tendencies in the past as well; she attempted suicide twice in 2005 and again in 2008. She has also appeared on "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" for substance abuse.
Despite the unfortunate circumstances, McCready seems to have friends and family to support her.
"She is surrounded by people who love her and are there for her," Atwood told People magazine. "It's a very sad time, but she has support in place."
