The next downloadable content (DLC) coming to "Dead by Daylight" might bring the original stuff of nightmares himself — Freddy Krueger.
This information comes from the datamining efforts of players, which shared their discoveries on the Steam page of the popular horror game.
The game files they discovered make mention of "Nightmare on Elm Street," the series of films where the character was first introduced. He is even addressed by his nickname Sandman.

When he joins "Dead by Daylight," Freddy Krueger will be wielding his infamous weapon, the clawed glove, and will possess an ability called Dreammaster, which is likely inspired from his killing specialty.
As fans of the "Nightmare on Elm Street" series know, Freddy Krueger likes to murder his victims in the most bloody and brutal fashion by entering their dreams.
There is also a mention of a survivor named Kate Denson for "Dead by Daylight," but no details about her were pulled from the datamining.
Interestingly, dataminers discovered a sound file featuring the iconic Freddy Kruger song "One, Two, Freddy's Coming for You" hummed by a young girl.
Freddy Kruger is one of the most unforgettable villains in cinematic history. The serial killer was once a family man who kept a dark secret in the form of an insatiable blood lust.
With no way to convict him, the families of his victims burned him alive. The fire did not kill him and instead gave him a more nightmarish look. More importantly, it turned him into a Dream Demon, allowing him to kill his preys within their nightmares.
It is unclear at the moment when Freddy Krueger will find his way to "Dead by Daylight" but it looks like Behaviour Interactive is putting the puzzle pieces in place to pave the way for his big entrance. When that will happen, fans will just have to keep their eyes peeled for now.
