'Deadpool 2' News, Spoilers: New Poster Could Point to 'Second Coming' Storyline
A new poster for "Deadpool 2" has been released, courtesy of star Ryan Reynolds.
The actor took to his Twitter account to share the poster, which is a parody of Michaelangelo's "The Creation of Adam." But, instead of Adam and God, the poster features Deadpool and Cable.
The poster also comes with the tagline, "The Second Coming," which could be nothing, or it could end up being the official subtitle of the sequel. According to UPROXX, the tagline may also give a clue as to what the story of "Deadpool 2" is.
Apparently, there is a comics crossover series titled "X-Men: Second Coming." In that series, mutants have become rare. When a mutant is born, Cable saves her, names her Hope, takes her to the future and raises her as his own. When she grows up to be a teenager, he takes her back to the past. So far, there has been no mention of Hope in any promos or casting news, but the teddy bear Cable is seen carrying in posters seem to indicate her presence in one way or another.
"Deadpool 2" has been rolling out a steady stream of painting-based promos, having parodied Norman Rockwell's "Freedom from Want" and Bob Ross.
As for fans who are concerned about the sequel's R-rating now that Disney has acquired 21st Century Fox, it looks like there is nothing to worry about. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney CEO Bob Iger remained confident that "Deadpool 2" would still get the proper rating it deserves. After all, it is a huge box office draw.
"It ['Deadpool'] clearly has been and will be Marvel branded. But we think there might be an opportunity for a Marvel-R brand for something like 'Deadpool.' As long as we let the audiences know what's coming, we think we can manage that fine," he said.
"Deadpool 2" will hit U.S. theaters on June 1, 2018.
