'Deadpool' News: What Fans Need to Know About the New 'Deadpool' Film
"Deadpool" is one of the most-anticipated movies of this year, and fans wants to know what the movie will bring once it premieres.
According to GQ Magazine UK, Deadpool is currently the coolest anti-hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The website said that the character itself is a combination of a bad guy and a good guy. Ryan Reynolds, the lead actor playing the title character, even said Deadpool can be likeable, yet annoying at the same time. "He's funny and acerbic and a little bit of a head case," he said.
Reynolds added that the Deadpool in the new film is not the same, in any "shape or form," as the Deadpool seen on 2009's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." The 39-year-old actor said that he's a fan of the character himself, and since fans call his last portrayal of Deadpool in the Hugh Jackson-lead film "lame," he'll be making amends this time.
For those who are not aware of Deadpool's backstory, he's an ex-army who had cancer, but managed to beat it by going through the "Weapon X" program, which is an extreme cell mutation process. His body was able to heal itself after the procedure, but it didn't totally cure the cancer. His new powers also allow him to live through decapitation and incineration, which is similar to Wolverine's powers.
Meanwhile, "Deadpool" fans from China won't be able to see the release of the film in cinemas there, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The website said that it's because of the movie's intense graphic violence, language, and nudity that made censors from China stop it from being shown in the country.
The website said that movie censors from China usually coordinate with Hollywood movie outfits to create an R-rated film version, but since the Deadpool himself is known to be the most foul-mouthed hero there is, censorship will equal to plot problems.
"Deadpool" is scheduled to be released on cinemas this Feb. 12.
