'Death Stranding' Release Date News: Hideo Kojima Says It Is Not a Horror Game; Mads Mikkelsen Gushes About Massive Scanning Work

"Death Stranding" may have given off a strong brooding tone in its first trailer, but that does not mean it will not have humor in it.

In fact, creator Hideo Kojima made sure that his first game as an independent developer will have an air of mirth to it despite its dark core promise.

"Humor is a very important aspect for games. You play a game for a very long time – Death Stranding is a big game, too — and you put stress on the player and you lead them through peaks and valleys," the "Metal Gear" creator told Glixel.

"Humor is an important aspect to make sure the player can enjoy playing across these peaks and valleys. So we'll have humor in this game too, but to a degree that it doesn't ruin the world setting. It will be at an appropriate level," he went on to say.

He also noted that "Death Stranding" is not particularly a horror game, when asked if he is going to "dark places" as influenced by his latest works like "P.T."

It turns out that the ominous vibe of "Death Stranding" is just the result of Kojima's desire to make something that looks "very unique, something you haven't seen before, something with a more artistic slant to it." He emphasized that he is in no way going for a dark aspect to the game, but is only following what the title calls for.

Mads Mikkelsen is one of the actors that Kojima recruited for "Death Stranding." He did motion capture work for the highly anticipated game, which he deemed massive.

In an interview with HideoTube, the "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" actor said that while he did major 3D work on movies like "Doctor Strange," it does not compare with what they did for "Death Stranding."

"I've done scannings before ... But obviously not on this scale, not where everything is created by you guys. We are there as a base, but everything else will be created," Mikkelsen, who is also joined by Guillermo del Toro and Norman Reedus for the game, said.

"Death Stranding" has no release date yet, but it is slated for release on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) instead of the PS5 so the wait won't be that long.
