Casey Anthony Mistaken Identity; Death Threats to Middle Aged Black Man
In what is being called the “Curse of Casey,” a Darby Borough Pennsylvania man has been receiving threats because of his name, Casey Anthony.
Anthony, a 43-year-old black man, said he has received over 300 hundred friend requests and threatening messages on Facebook since the day a Florida woman with his name was acquitted on murder charges against her daughter. The Pennsylvania native said he has even received death threats.
The male Anthony said the day after the Florida woman’s verdict was announced, things got hectic.
“After the verdict that day it went crazy,” Anthony said. “Everybody wanted to know and comment on this situation.”
Since people cannot express their frustration with the Anthony that was involved in a murder case, people have taken to the Pennsylvania native’s page to reprimand him for Caylee Anthony’s murder.
“(They are ) making comments about the verdict, (asking) who am I to take a child’s life,” he said.
Anthony has taken time to delete messages, but is worried about his sons who share the same name. Since his phone number was listed on the page, the Darby Borough native has also started to receive abusive phone calls.
Although Anthony did not think it was necessary to contact the police, he did reach out to Facebook. The social media website told him to change his profile name or make his account private.
However, Anthony has a message for all of those in opposition to the ruling against Casey Anthony from Orlando, Florida.
“I am not the Casey Anthony you think, please don’t contact me,” he said.
