'Delusional' Father Arrested for Burning Son With Lighter for Touching Bible
Arizona resident, Johnny Salazar is in police custody for burning his 5-year-old son with a cigarette lighter on his arm and wrist, after the child touched his bible.
Salazar was arrested Sunday and charged with child abuse. The 25-year-old told police investigator, Joe Favazzo that “his son was possessed and that he didn’t want him touching the bible.”
In an attempt to stop the child from further touching his bible Salazar grabbed the lighter.

The child’s grandparents first noticed the blistering burns on their grandson’s wrist and hand and they immediately called the police.
“It’s a case of child abuse and we don’t know if there was some sort of illegal substance in ( Salazar’s) system that was creating this delusion or if he actually believes the child is possessed”, said Favazzo.
Officers confiscated a vile, of white crystallized substance from the home of Salazar and are awaiting lab results to determine if illegal drugs were involved.
According to police documents, Salazar was talking about demons and possession at the time of his arrest.
The 5-year-old suffered minor injuries and is currently staying with his mother in Casa Grande.
