Demi Lovato Climbs Charts With Support From Kim Kardashian and Selena Gomez
Demi Lovato managed to make it from an emotional breakdown to the top of the charts this week, thanking some famous friends on the way.
Lovato, 19, is most known for starring in the Disney Channel show, “Camp Rock.” However, the actress also has a penchant for music and released her third album “Unbroken” on Sept. 20.
After a publicized battle with bulimia and bipolar disorder, Lovato entered an impatient treatment facility, according to ABC news reports. The singer publicly thanked Kim Kardashian and Selena Gomez for getting her through the ordeal.
"I feel like there are some people that you're friends with that talk to you on Twitter or you text, but the people that are really there for me are the people that were there for me when I went into treatment," Lovato told Billboard."The people that were calling me while I was in there were Kim Kardashian and Selena Gomez. Those two girls, they meant the world to me. They still do."
The two stars publicly showed Lovato support via their Twitter accounts when her album was released.
"My lil sis @ddlovato's album comes out today!!!," Kardashian tweeted. "I just got UNBROKEN! Go out & get it! Its sooo good! So proud of u Dem! Xo".
Gomez took an opportunity to also show support on her Twitter account.
“Jamming to Unbroken in my car @ddlovato :)", Gomez tweeted.
Lovato said she is happy with her latest work, which is a blend of various genres.
"One of the best parts about making this album was that there wasn't anything holding me back, as in a genre of music,” she said, according to Billboard reports.
“Ultimately it's pop, but I have songs that are really dance-like, songs that are more R&B, and songs like 'Skyscraper' that are not really R&B at all. And so it just depends on the song. I always love it when it turns into a house remix, like something you hear in the club, or something totally different."
The next single to be released from the singer will be "Who's That Boy."
