Demi Lovato is marking a special milestone in her battle against addiction this year, thanking God for being a "best friend" through the struggle with drugs and alcohol.

Over the past few years, Lovato has been very open about both drug use and experiences with an eating disorder and self-harming behavior. Today, just weeks shy of her third anniversary of being clean, the "Skyscraper" singer is giving all glory to God.

"3 years sober next month… Hell yeah," Lovato shared with her 27 million Twitter followers on Feb. 5. "God is so good. My best friend created the universe and still takes time to love me. #soblessed."

Three years after visiting the rehabilitation center Timberline Knolls, Lovato strives for mental and physical health, frequently sharing workouts and encouraging messages with Twitter followers. Furthermore, the singer fills her time with philanthropic activities through charity work and, more recently, working on a new album. More than anything, the former Disney star relies on her Christian faith to keep her life on track.

"I curse like a sailor but I love me some Jesus. God is good. Workout done by 7:45… happy and healthy. Feelin' blessed," the singer shared on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Despite rejecting a "super religious" lifestyle, Lovato explained her beliefs in a past interview with Cosmopolitan.

"I grew up Christian and I believe in God," she said. "When I'm in L.A. I don't talk about it that much because people are very judgmental, but I just feel like God gave me a voice, not just to sing with."

As for her troubled past, Lovato added, "He put me through those things, which seemed horrible at the time, but they were so worth it. With the obstacles I've overcome, I can help people."
