Appearing on the “Today Show” last week, Moore said of her directorial debut, “My piece really shows how one event can really define the direction of someone’s life.”

Moore explains that the film is both educational and entertaining.

“Part of what motivated me was wanting to bridge that divide that says, ‘No, that happens to other people,’ and in doing so, to share with others the value and importance of getting out of that denial,” said the actress.

Moore hopes that the film will provide current cancer patients with hope, and added, “If people walk away with just that, then we will have done a lot.”

The women involved in the film are making a point to activate breast cancer awareness. Last week, Aniston was in Washington, D.C. attending Breast Cancer Awareness Month events that included a tour of the new Inova Breast Cancer Center. The actress also participated in a screening and reception for “Five” in the Ronald Reagan Building.

Lifetime has been participating in breast cancer awareness projects for over 17 years according to their website, and hopes to offer women comprehensive information about the disease.

“Five” premieres Monday at 9 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
