Demi Moore Predicted to be 'Great' Soon
Following Demi Moore's recent health scare, a friend of the actress says she is "doing great" despite her absence at the Director's Guild Awards Saturday night.
Loved ones and pals of the actress have rallied around her in support of a healthy recovery. Patty Jenkins told E! News that the media has overreacted to Moore's hospitalization for "exhaustion."
"I just saw her and she's doing great," said the director. "I think she's doing much better than it's made out to be. Demi is awesome and so strong."
The actress checked herself into a hospital last week. Her representative said in an official statement to TMZ that Moore needs professional assistance "because of the stresses in her life right now."
The rep continued, "Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health. She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends."
Jenkins continued, "I also hate when people make is a bigger drama than what is going on. She's great."
Moore and Jenkins were nominated for awards at the weekend's ceremony along with Jennifer Aniston, Penelope Spheeris, and Alicia Keys for their Lifetime movie "Five."
Spheeris told Us Weekly, "It would have been nice [to have Demi here] but given the circumstances, life goes on and first things first," while attending the awards ceremony. "And we wish Demi the best and I hope we all get together soon."
"Demi blew me away," said Jenkins of the 49-year-old's directing ability. "She has the chops to be a real director… I said to her, 'You're a director, my friend.'"
Jenkins agreed with Spheeris, saying, "It's terribly sad that she's not here, but she'll be great in two seconds."
Moore has been spotted publicly looking especially gaunt in recent months as she has been forced to publicly cope with rumors of Ashton Kutcher's infidelity as well as her divorce from the actor. Many reports indicate that the actress is receiving treatment for anorexia as well as problems from substance abuse.
