Denise Richards 'Anger Management' Role Handpicked for Love Interest
Denise Richards plays "Anger Management" love interest to Charlie Sheen on his upcoming show, set to premiere June 28. The premiere will be Sheen's return to television after his public meltdown while working on "Two and A Half Men" in January of 2011.
Denise Richards' "Anger Management" role is that of Charlie Goodson's (Sheen's) love interest Lori, which will ring true since she is the ex-wife of Sheen. Us Weekly reported that the actress had been handpicked for the part.
"I saw a sneak peek of the first episode and it's really funny," Richards told Extra. "I did a table read last week."

Richards and Sheen were married for four years until their divorce in 2006. They share two daughters, Sam and Lola. Their divorce resulted in Richards seeking a restraining order against Sheen, but the relationship between the exes seems to have improved vastly.
Richards opened up about Charlie's new outlook on life, saying that his willingness to work has provided some stability for the actor, who previously suffered from drug abuse and alcoholism.
"He's in a really good place. Everything is good," Richards explained of her co-star. "He's been very focused on our children and on his job."
"Anger Management" is not the first project related to Sheen that has offered Richards a role. Last year, the actress was offered $100,000 to portray Sheen's ex-girlfriend at the funeral of his character on "Two and a Half Men," which she turned down.
Sheen, 46, is keeping things a family affair on the television series. The actor recently announced that his real-life father, Martin Sheen, will also appear on the show portraying his on-screen father.
"As the show's developed, we're discovering who my family is as I discuss them," Charlie Sheen told Jill Martin of Access Hollywood. "We're going to find out this guy does have major issues with his pop and when that character does finally show up, it will be my dad."
"Anger Management" has gotten good reviews, and Sheen's partial ownership in the series could make him more dedicated than he previously was to "Men"- possibly because he gets to make more of the decisions, but also because the show can be picked up for syndication if it does well.
Sheen started filming the first 10 episodes March 22, with potential for another 90 in a distribution clause. "Anger Management" is based loosely on the 2003 movie starring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson.
