Dennis Quaid Divorce: Reason Behind Split From Kimberly Buffington
Papers in the Dennis Quaid divorce to wife Kimberly Buffington were filed Friday, six weeks after she filed for legal separation.
The 54-year-old Vegas star is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the couple's 4-year-old twins, Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, according to divorce papers filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Quaid is offering to pay spousal support.
Kimberly filed for divorce in March but changed her mind a month later. In October, when she filed for legal separation, a source shared the details to TMZ citing cheating as the reason behind the impending divorce.
"Kimberly is fed up with Dennis' cheating and wants out of the marriage." the source said. "He's not a good husband."
The couple had to wait until now to file for divorce because they had to fulfill a 6-month residency requirement before they could file for divorce in California. They have been married eight years.
The pair has been through a lot together. The couple's twins almost died shortly after birth due to a mistake by a hospital staffer who gave them an overdose of the drug heparin.
Dennis Quaid's divorce to Kimberly is the third time the actor has ended a marriage. He was previously married to Halloween actress P.J. Soles and to Sleepless in Seattle actress Meg Ryan, the mother of his 20-year-old son, Hunger Games actor Jack.
