According to NFL, this is a big blow for the defending Super Bowl champions as they are now going to have to resort to their younger guys to do scrimmages on the field. Sanchez was brought in as a replacement for Peyton Manning but his time for the Broncos may have to wait a little longer after he suffered an injury in the weight room last week.
As a result, Sanchez had to go surgery to repair the torn ligament on his thumb. Luckily, it was not on his throwing hand and it was deemed not to be a serious one. However, they still need to take precaution before putting Sanchez back on the field, as per Bleacher Report.

For the Broncos, they will likely rely on first-round pick Paxton Lynch and sophomore quarterback Trevor Sielman for the OTAs.
This could turn out well with Lynch seen as a quarterback for the future. Having Lynch play at this point should be great for his development in the future.
Spotrac noted that Sanchez signed with the Broncos from the Philadelphia Eagles. He was given a one-year contract worth $4,500,000 with a dead cap of $1,000,000.
At 29 years old, Sanchez is hitting his peak in the sport and the jump on his contract (from $2,500,000 last year to $4,500,000 at the moment) should help him stay motivated. However, he should still concentrate on getting better and give the younger stars a chance to develop.
Last year, Sanchez completed 65% of his passes with the Eagles. He threw four touchdown passes and had four interceptions as he only played four games in the 2015-2016 season.
