Denver Broncos Considering Adding a Third Quarterback

The Denver Broncos were initially one of Tony Romo's top suitors. But since he's retiring, the Broncos will have to rely on Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch.

The two young quarterbacks are going to compete for the starting role next season, and despite his inexperience, Siemian played really well last season and a lot of people believe he's the favorite to start at quarterback. However, the Broncos are also considering bringing in a third quarterback to compete with the two.

"We've got two quarterbacks in our building that are going to be 1 and 2," Broncos head coach Vance Joseph said, according to ESPN. "We have to add a third in some capacity. Now, could that third outplay our 1 and 2? if he's that good, absolutely. But right now, we have a 1 and 2 in our building," he continued.

Will the Broncos sign a veteran quarterback? Or will they select one in the draft?

During an interview at the American Football Conference (AFC) head coaches breakfast last week, Joseph said bringing in an older veteran to play behind Siemian and Lynch makes no sense. So, quarterbacks like Ryan Fitzpatrick and Shaun Hill should no longer be options for the Broncos.

"It could be a young veteran. But I wouldn't perceive it being an older veteran. If it's a veteran, it would be a young veteran. I wouldn't discount drafting a young quarterback out of the draft next month. That's possible," Joseph said, according to 9News.

Well, there are still a handful of young veterans in the open market like Robert Griffin III, Blaine Gabbert, T.J. Yates and Colin Kaepernick, so the Broncos can take their pick.

Meanwhile, North Carolina's Mitch Trubisky, Clemson's Deshaun Watson, Texas Tech's Patrick Mahomes II, Notre Dame's DeShone Kizer and University of California, Berkeley's Davis Webb are the top quarterbacks available in the draft.
