Denver Broncos NFL Trade Rumors: Broncos Not Interested in Trading for Tony Romo
The Dallas Cowboys can't seem to make up their mind. Everyone thought Tony Romo was leaving last Thursday. He has already bid a heartfelt farewell to the fans, but it appears the team has other plans. Instead of releasing him, the Cowboys ended up dangling him as trade bait. Unfortunately, no one is taking the bait.
The Denver Broncos were reportedly one of the teams lining up to sign Romo once he hits the free agent market, but they are not interested in trading for him. During a press conference earlier this week, Broncos general manager John Elway was asked if they would trade for Romo and he hinted that he's not going to spend much time talking about the quarterback if he's still under contract.
"Tony's under contract still, last time I checked," John Elway said at the press conference, according to the Denver Post. "The Tony thing, I will just tell you this: There have been a lot of things out there that just aren't true as far as what's going on with our quarterbacks. That's what happens. Everything gets frothed up there. So we just continue to go down our plan and continue to stay open. When things come available, we look at them at that point in time," he continued.

Well, looks like Elway and the Broncos are going to call the Cowboys' bluff and wait until Romo hits the free agent market. The team obviously does not want to inherit his current contract.
Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch have bright futures ahead of them and it seems the Broncos will rather play them more minutes if they fail to get a veteran quarterback like Romo. The two should compete for the starting role next season.
This does not mean the Broncos are giving up on Romo, though. But they are not going to pursue him as long as he's on the Cowboys' roster.
