Deployed Soldier Watches His Daughter's Birth on an iPad – Then Gets a Surprise From His Commander
Thanks to the modern gift of technology, this National Guard Sergeant recently shared a precious moment with his family. Then his commander gave him the surprise of a lifetime. He was able to surprise them in person!
While deployed in the Middle East, Sgt. John Vorrath watched the birth of his second child, Charlotte on his iPad. He was in the delivery room via Facetime with his wife Janae brought her into the world. While he was watching, his commander slipped him a secret note granting him leave. His wife had no idea that she was in for the surprise of a lifetime.
Vorrath's wife had no idea and 22 hours later after a long flight back, he surprised his wife and family in Ames, Iowa. This emotional video was posted online. What was even better, was the fact that his 2-year-old son was also able to see his dad after several months.
