'Descendants of the Sun 2': Song Joong Ki Nabs New Award, Makes Screenwriter Cry
While KBS has not yet confirmed a sequel to the highly-popular "Descendants of the Sun," recent reports claim that "Descendants of the Sun 2" is not far from happening. Considering the seemingly never-ending awards being received by lead stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, fans speculate that the highly anticipated sequel will be just as successful as its predecessor.
Recently at the 29th Korea Producer Awards, Song Joong Ki reportedly moved a screenwriter to tears as he delivered his speech after nabbing another acting award for his stellar performance as Captain Yoo Shi Jin in "Descendants of the Sun." In the said speech, the actor made mention of his leading actress in the TV series, Song Hye Kyo, and gave due credit to CBS radio show screenwriter Kim Moon Sook.
"I learned a lot from hearing the words of many veterans in their fields. I think it was a good thing to come tonight. Kim Moon Sook said that she writes scripts that go nowhere. I will become an actor who can work to bring those precious scripts to life," he said.
Meanwhile, rumor has it that "Descendants of the Sun 2" is currently underway and Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are already busy filming for the new series. The sequel will reportedly feature the life of Captain Yoo Shi Jin and Kang Mo Yeon after marriage. However, with no official announcement yet from KBS, fans should take these speculations with a grain of salt.
In other news, fans were reportedly disappointed when SBS cut off Song Joong Ki's remarks about Song Hye Kyo at the PD Awards. In his acceptance speech, the actor paid tribute to his beautiful co-star and said he would not have done his part well without her. However, the SBS broadcast did not include that part of his speech due to time constraint.
