'Descent' Remake Coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

"Descent" is well on its way to getting a modern revival for PCs and current-gen consoles, and their timeline has just been moved up, as Descendent Studios revealed in their announcement. More details are coming next year when the studio takes part in a yet unspecified 2018 gaming event.

While a specific timeline still eludes the studio, this is great news for fans who have been understandably getting worried over the struggling pace of "Descent: Underground." Their new announcement revealed that the game is now getting PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions; more importantly, they finally secured a distribution partner.

Their new partnership with Little Orbit takes a huge load off the beleaguered game development studio, especially with their new teammate stepping up to handle the huge task of porting the PC version to the PlayStation and Xbox.

What's more is that Little Orbit is also stepping in to provide resources and finish up assets, giving Descendent Studios more time to polish up the game.

"Little Orbit is providing resources to help us finish the game much faster. They're making it possible to go beyond a single-player prologue to build our full storyline campaign!" the studio wrote in their news update.

"Plus, they're making it possible for us to boost up the graphics and reach for that AAA experience we really want you to have!" Descendent Studios team member dunkelza added on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

"Descent: Underground" has been in development hell since their 2015 crowdfunding campaign, and things were starting to look poor on the release side by this time of the year. Descendent Studios tried to offer an early version of the game via Steam Early Access, according to Engadget.

The studio later aborted that, after realizing that supporting an Early Access version would break their already stretched budget. It has come to a point that the staff members have foregone getting paid just to keep working on the game.

Hopefully, their new alliance with Little Orbit will turn things around, as Descendent Studios encouraged fans to "keep your eyes peeled for an announcement at one of the big 2018 conventions."
