Desiree Hartsock 'Settled' for Relationship with Chris, Brother Says

Did "Bachelorette" Desiree Hartsock settle in her relationship with Chris after Brooks broke her heart? Hartsock's brother Nate believes that his sister just wanted to be in a relationship "so badly" after enduring heartache during her first time on the "Bachelor" and then on "Bachelorette."

"Obviously Chris wasn't her first choice," Nate told Life & Style magazine. "Desiree wanted to go on the show because she wanted to get married so badly and she wanted the family and to have kids. She is happy with him and with how it ended," Nate added.

"I think this will be a short engagement. I could see a wedding happening even quicker than next summer. I think it's obvious she settled for him, but Desiree is at the point where she's 'all in' with Chris, and I think he is just happy he gets to be with her," Nate explained.

The family remains skeptical about the relationship and whether the two can actually make a go of things, knowing how Desiree truly felt about Brooks… and how devastated she was when he left her in Antigua

"She is madly in love with the idea of love and was madly in love with Brooks, but once she and Chris live together, she'll realize she settled," a friend told the magazine. "She's deluding herself and she's deluding Chris."

Chris was only too happy to pick up the pieces of Desiree's heart and promise to be there forever. The two appeared completely in love on "After the Rose," but many still wonder what power Brooks has on Desiree, and what affect his rejection truly had on her.

This season of the "Bachelorette" was one of the most shocking, with contestants walking away from Desiree and a relationship, being caught in other relationships, and then making it to the finale before deciding to leave. Desiree maintains, though, that she is happy with Chris and is grateful he stayed until the very end.
