'Desperate Housewives' Star Eva Longoria and Eduardo Cruz Split
Eva Longoria has split from boyfriend of one year, Eduardo Cruz, after what was reportedly a mutual decision between the pair.
The former couple were introduced by Cruz's sister, actress Penelope Cruz, during Longoria's divorce from NBA star Tony Parker, and although they recently decided to break up, a source says there are no ill feelings, according to Us Magazine.
"It was a mutual decision. They are staying friends. [Eva's] focusing on work and the end of Desperate Housewives," a source told Us.
Cruz has reportedly returned to his native Madrid, Spain and Longoria remains in the U.S., where she is preparing to celebrate her 37th birthday on March 19.
The twice-married actress filed from divorce from the San Antonio Spurs point guard in 2010 citing "irreconcilable differences," after finding inappropriate text messages that he had allegedly sent to Erin Barry, the former wife of one of his teammates.
Longoria once spoke about feeling blessed about her relationship with Cruz, 26, as he is believed to have consoled the actress after learning about Parker's infidelities.
"The truth is, I should be angry, resentful, and disillusioned about relationships. But I'm not. I was very lucky to find Edu," Longoria once told Vanity Fair magazine.
"There's a reason I fell in love and got married. I believed in it. Love did not work with that person. But it can work with another," she said.
Longoria was recently linked to Los Angeles Lakers star, Matt Barnes, after the two were reportedly spotted enjoying a romantic dinner in New York City, according to The New York Post.
"There was definitely a spark between Eva and Matt. They weren't seated next to each other, but you could tell there was something between them. There was a little hand-holding over the table and a lot of eye contact," a source told the Post.
Longoria, who was still dating Cruz at the time, quickly denied the reports, which sparked controversy because Barnes is allegedly still involved with the mother of his two sons.
"Once again, press gets it wrong, matt barnes and I are not dating! We are doing a charity event together for Padres and Athletes vs Cancer. . Why is the truth never the headline?" Longoria wrote on her Whosay account.
