'Destiny 2' News: Bungie Conducts Server Maintenance Ahead of Release of New Patch
Bungie conducted some maintenance work on "Destiny 2" yesterday, preventing players from signing into the game for hours. The announcement came early on Thursday, a few hours before the downtime.
On Thursday morning, the game developer announced that the game would have a server downtime on that day to conduct maintenance ahead of the release of a new update.
Bungie announced that the downtime would last for a few hours, starting at 11 a.m. EST on Thursday, Oct. 19. Once the servers were down, players would no longer be able to sign in to the game. An hour after the downtime began, those who were still playing found themselves booted out to the title screen. The maintenance work was set to end at 3 p.m. EST. Luckily, the maintenance work ended earlier at 2:30 p.m.
This is not the first time that the studio has performed a "Destiny 2" server maintenance. Last Oct. 11 and Oct. 16, Bungie also conducted maintenance work on the game although they were able to do all the necessary work without requiring a downtime or causing any impact to gamers.
According to Bungie, yesterday's maintenance required downtime because it would conclude with the release of a new patch for "Destiny 2," the Update 1.0.3.5. This update is primarily concerned with fixing bug issues, as well as resolving issues that have to do with the disappearance of the Raid keys.
Some fans also speculate that the update will have to do with fixing the glitches that players can use in turning the boss fight of the Leviathan raid into a cakewalk. Fans of "Destiny 2" know that the fire team of the game — known for being the first in the world to complete the Prestige version of the raid — exploited a glitch that is not specific to Leviathan.
Aside from that glitch, there are also several other bugs in the game that need some fixing, including the black screen that appears when players load into the Tower.
