'Destiny 2' Problems: Players Reporting Mass Bans Without Explanation From Bungie
It seems like some "Destiny 2" PC players aren't enjoying the shooter as much as their console brethren as hundreds were banned for allegedly using third-party programs. Since its release on the PC, both the game's official forum and the "Destiny" subreddit were flooded with complaints about the problem.
Some players were greeted with a message stating that they were banned right off the bat and asking them to visit the Bungie ban webpage. The page explains that there are no options to dispute or overturn account restrictions or bans, although given the widespread nature of this issue there are many who suggest it's a bug of some kind.
Some of the affected players speculate that the ban was the result of a certain performance or chat-related overlays interacting with the game. Destiny Community Manager Cozmo has said that these programs are simply blocked, and will not result in bans.

In a recent statement, Bungie addressed – and denied – claims that players are being banned for using third-party software.
"We have seen lots of questions about bans being issued in the PC version of Destiny 2", the statement said. "To provide some information, we would like to share some facts".
The statement also insists that Destiny 2 is not capable of automatically banning players as only Bungie has the ability to do this and only after a manual investigation. To prove their point, they also revealed that they banned approximately 400 players on launch day alone.
"Bans were applied to players who were using tools that pose a threat to the shared ecosystem of the game", insists Bungie, "We did not (and will not) issue any bans for the use of overlays or performance tools, including Discord, Xsplit, OBS, RTSS, etc."
Earlier this year, Bungie has stated that it blocks these programs for fear of apps inserting code into the game client. This only means that these programs will not work with the game and will not result in players getting banned.
"Destiny 2" is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
