'Destiny 2' Release Date, News: Bungie Reveals the Only Thing to Be Carried Over from Original
Bungie has finally revealed brand-new details about its highly anticipated title, "Destiny 2," and in the process, confirmed the longstanding reports about their plans for the franchise.
In a brand-new blog post, the developer revealed that only the characters from the original "Destiny" game can be transferred over to the sequel.
These Guardians with their appearance intact will then start a brand-new story and mission in "Destiny 2" in an unfamiliar location and a new set of loot and items to collect.
"We know that, just like us, you have grown fond of the Guardians you've created, so we do plan to preserve your character personalization. We are going to recognize the dedication and passion you've shown for this world," Bungie wrote.
The developer said that much of the aspects including the class, race, gender, face, hair, and body marking selections for all characters will be brought over to "Destiny 2" provided they meet the requirements.
The characters up for being carried over to the second "Destiny" installment are only those who reached level 20 in the game and completed the original final story mission, "Black Garden."
Although Bungie appears to be completely moving past the original game, they vow to make sure that the passion, time and effort that players poured in the game will not go unrewarded in "Destiny 2."
"We also plan to award those veteran accounts with honors that reflect your Destiny 1 accomplishments," the studio noted.
It has long been rumored that "Destiny 2" will be a clean slate with much of the elements brand new. Bungie believes this is the best course for the franchise.
"It allows us to introduce the major advancements and improvements that all of us expect from a sequel, ensuring it will be the best game we can create, unencumbered by the past. We're looking forward to sharing more details with you later this year for how we will honor your legacy in the future," they wrote.
"Destiny 2" will be released later this year. While waiting, gamers can look forward to the release of the "Age of Triumph" update for "Destiny" on March 8. They can read about the DLC on the blog post.
