'Destiny' King's Fall Raid Oryx Challenge Now Live; Bungie Nerfs Sleeper Simulant Making Solo Runs Almost Impossible

Tuesday's reset ushered with it the third "Destiny" King's Fall raid against Oryx. But those looking forward to making solo runs against the Taken King may have to revise their plans as Bungie has nerfed a key tool for winning.

Third Challenge Mode goes live

The third and final challenge has finally come for "Destiny" King's Fall raid. After The Warpriest and Golgoroth, players will now need to face the Taken King himself, Oryx.

YouTuber Unknown Player shares that this week's challenge (video below) requires a team to detonate all 16 orbs of Corrupted Light at once. This means players will go through the normal strategy except they will have to leave the orbs alone until after the fourth rotation when all orbs are on the ground.

Successful teams will get the 50th and final calcified fragment, which gives players the Beltane shader. A ship will also be rewarded to those who win the challenge, as well as an emblem, 310 items on Normal Mode, and 320 Light items on Hard Mode.

"Destiny" King's Fall raid Oryx challenge came with this week's reset, as expected.

Sleeper Simulant nerfed

In another Oryx-related update, TheGreatGatsby has recently shared that the recharge time for the Sleeper Simulant fusion rifle has been increased.

The Sleeper Simulant was the key to this "Destiny" player's successful defeat of Oryx on his own. He used it to fire two quick shots at Oryx's chest to stun him.

"Before, you were able to shoot a sleeper shot at Oryx's chest, and instantly charge up your next shot and shoot it again. This was the only reason Solo Oryx was even possible," TheGreatGatsby said over at Reddit.

Patch 2.1.0's blanket Fusion Rifle nerf seemed to have caused the increased charge time, according to the Redditor. After firing the first shot, the rifle now jams for about a second before charging.

TheGreatGatsby advises that for those still planning to solo Oryx, they need to swap their Fusion Rifle for a 318+ sleeper and use all three shots to hit the boss' chest immediately when it expands.
