'Destiny: The Taken King' Boss Challenge: Find Out How Oryx Can Be Defeated Alone
A new record has been set for "Destiny: The Taken King." This time, a brave guardian went solo and defeated Oryx, one of the three bosses in King's Fall Raid.
To defeat Oryx, the common belief among players is to take on the boss as a team. That team could comprise even only two members. No one ever thought Oryx could be defeated by a single player.
Oryx was thought to be impossible to defeat alone until last week when a certain YouTuber and "Destiny" player uploaded a video (below) showing him achieve what no one ever has. In the in-game footage uploaded on Dec. 3, TheGreatGatsby could be seen "casually" going solo against Oryx. The 15-minute video ends with one victorious guardian.
It didn't take long before this "amazing feat" caught Bungie's attention, and on Thursday, Dec. 10, the developer sat down with TheGreatGatsby in its Community Focus segment over at its official website.
Here are highlights from the interview:
Who is TheGreatGatsby?
TheGreatGatsby, also known as Frostbyte3 on Twitch, is an 18-year-old living in Brooklyn, New York. He describes himself as an average kid and an average "Destiny" player who has logged in more than 1,000 hours in the game mainly as a Hunter.
How did he defeat Oryx?
He defeated Oryx by using a 300+ Sleeper Simulant. It could stun the boss with three shots to the face.
Where did the idea of soloing Oryx come from?
The idea was hatched by TheGreatGatsby, Textbook_1987, ADeathCard, and ShootForCookies at a party after they watched the World First 2-Man Oryx video.
What's next on his plan?
TheGreatGatsby plans to solo Oryx again, but this time in Hard Mode.
Oryx will be the focus of next week's Challenge Mode. The challenge is the third part that began with The Warpriest last week, followed by Golgoroth this week, and Oryx whose challenge is scheduled to arrive with Tuesday's reset.
