'Destiny: The Taken King' DLC Features vs Price Summary: More Features Added, Do They Justify $40 Price Tag?
There are a few days left before the release of the "Destiny: The Taken King" expansion and fans are already checking updates to see what they can expect. So far, the most highlighted news is the price it's going to cost. The last two expansions released cost $20 each but the new expansion is double the price and this confused many players.
Bungie, the developer of the game, has since been giving out details about the content that the players will be getting in this new expansion. In an IGN podcast, community manager Eric "Urk" Osborne explained the reason for the charge. According to him, the expansion contains more than the past content packs, and its included content more than justifies the price tag.
"You've got a full campaign, [and] I think people are going to enjoy the cinematics, the characters, the missions. We're taking you to the Dreadnaught, to Phobos, up into colony ships. Nathan Fillion [Firefly, Halo 3: ODST] is talking to you, Lance Reddick [The Wire] is talking to you, it's good stuff," said Osborne.
The game will take place in a new area called the Dreadnaught and players will mostly be spending their time unlocking puzzles and levels there. Osborne also spoke about the profusion of exotic equipment that will be introduced in "Destiny: The Taken King." According to iDigital Times, the expansion will add more exotic gear and there are going to be three new Strikes which Osborne refers to as "the best Strikes we've delivered to date," along with seven new Crucible maps for players to venture. Additionally, the King's Fall raid will open up and three Strikes from previous "Year One" content will be updated and remixed with Taken enemies.
More than anything else, the creators of "The Taken King" are hoping to tell a focused and direct story for fans of Bungie's universe.
The expansion will arrive on all platforms on Sept. 15, and some content will be offered exclusively for those who play on a PlayStation-branded console.
