'Destiny's The Taken King' DLC Expansion Pack Release Date Rumors: Features More Content Than Earlier DLCs
"Destiny" is about to release its next DLC Expansion Pack called "The Taken King" on Sept. 15 and earlier reports have been saying that some gamers are thinking twice to get the pack because of its $40 price tag. One report has the game developer Bungie justifying the pack's price, saying that it contains loads of content that is more than the previous expansion packs.
Community manager Erik "Urk" Osborne shared during a podcast that the content that is included in "The Taken King" more than justifies the price tag and that this content is more than double the amount of content that was released in the past DLC packs for the game.
"You've got a full campaign, [and] I think people are going to enjoy the cinematics, the characters, the missions. We're taking you to the Dreadnaught, to Phobos, up into colony ships. Nathan Fillion is talking to you, Lance Reddick is talking to you, it's good stuff," he said.
According to another report in IGN, "The Taken King" has "tons of new exotics" which includes new weapons and new gears to play with. During Gamescom, the report noted that the demo featured a story mission called "The Coming War," where new warlock gloves with electricity charging through them were shown off. An arsenal update is also coming with the pack, which the developers simply describe as a "huge" update.
The GameSpot report cited Osborne talking about having seven Crucible multiplayers maps, three brand new Strikes, which he called "the best Strikes we've delivered to date" and something called the Dreadnaught, which is a new destination to explore. The upcoming DLC will also feature the "King's Fall Raid," a much awaited feature since the previous DLCs did not feature any new raids.
In comparison, the past "House of Wolves" DLC pack only included "three Crucible maps, a new coop mode called the Prison of Elders, one Strike, a second social space," only a few story missions, and no raids.
The new DLC pack will also bring with it changes in the game system. Instead of the Light level system, a more traditional "experience-based progression" will be used in the game. Also getting overhauled is the game's quest and bounty systems.
