Meanwhile the Detroit Lions are still fighting it out against the Green Bay Packers for dominance of the NFC North. Both teams are on 7-3 in what has become a clear two horse race between the pair for the NFC North division.

In recent weeks the Patriots have shown excellent form, putting more than 40 points on against both the Denver Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts.

Last week's road victory over the Colts was particularly impressive as their defense shut down quarterback Andrew Luck and piled on the pain as they won through 42-20.

In many ways it was a performance consistent to what we saw when they destroyed Peyton Manning and his Denver Broncos in Week 9. That 43-21 win saw the Patriots defense completely upset the play of Peyton Manning, who has arguably been the league's best quarterback for the past two seasons.

Meanwhile the Detroit Lions lost last week to put more pressure on themselves in their battle against the Packers. That 6-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals will have made it clear to the Lions that they still have much to improve upon as the season moves towards the postseason.
