Detroit Red Wings vs Tampa Bay Lightning Live Stream: Watch Online NHL Hockey
Hoping to get a big 3-1 series lead, the Detroit Red Wings host the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Joe Louis Arena in the Eastern Conference playoffs in the NHL. The match is on April 23, 2015 at 7 p.m. ET.
Despite being ranked lower than the Lightning, the Red Wings are in control of the series and lead it 2-1.
They surprised the Lightning in the first game behind the heroics of Pavel Datsyuk and some stellar defense. More importantly, the Red Wings won away from home to immediately take away Tampa Bay's home advantage which plays a crucial factor in a best-of-seven series.
However, the Lightning were able to adjust in Game 2 and completely dominated Detroit en route to the win. In the 5-1 victory, Tampa Bay led 4-0 at one point in the game before a goal early in the third period finally put Detroit on the board.
Despite missing out on a clean sheet, the Lightning defense did their job and tied the series before heading to Michigan.
Hoping to build on their Game 2 victory, Tampa Bay tried to go in aggressively in the third meeting. Unfortunately, it was Detroit's patience and experience that carried them over as Datsyuk scored in less than nine minutes from the puck drop to give Detroit the lead.
From then on there was no turning back for the Red Wings as they pushed forward and eventually get two more goals in the third frame to completely shut out the Lightning and get the important series lead.
If Detroit win at home, they will only need one more win to move on in the tournament, while the Lightning will need to string three straight wins to eliminate Detroit.
