Jon Lester has been in phenomenal form recently, closing out the regular season extremely strongly, and maintaining that excellent form through into the postseason.

In the ALDS Lester held the Rays to just two runs on only three hits and three walks in Game 1 over 7 2/3rds innings.

He has also faced the Tigers twice this season already, but those face offs did not go according to plan, giving up six runs in the 12 2/3rds innings he threw to them.

Ahead of today's match up Lester said, "I mean, obviously very tough lineup. We've seen it kind of go both ways as far as them come in and score some runs. But at the same time, the games that they don't they're still tough outs. I think that's what makes them very similar to I think our offense is. You know you're not going to have three pitch outs. You know you're not going to have at bats that they just give away.

"So you have to be on top of your game from pitch one to however long you're in the game for. And try to execute down in the zone. Keep them in the ballpark, that's a big key. If they are able to score some pitches up and hit some home runs, hopefully you've kept guys off the base paths, so it's just solo shots."

Meanwhile, for the Tigers, Sanchez has recently hit a bit of trouble and he allowed three home runs in the ALDS Game 3 against the Athletics. That was way below=par for him seeing as he allowed just nine against him all season. He will hope to get back into form tonight and help Detroit to a win in Game 1.
