'Dexter' Reboot Latest News: Rumors Arise After Show's Twitter Posts Thanksgiving Greeting
American television crime-drama mystery series "Dexter" is largely rumored to be making a comeback to the small screen. According to reports, the Showtime network has a reboot of the hugely popular series in the works.
The rumors started way back when head of Showtime David Nevins said at the TCA press tour panel that the series is one of the fans' favorite shows that could be resurrected considering the stellar run through its eight seasons.
As noted in a report by Inquisitr, Nevins stated that the show is one that he would think about continuing. "It's a question of when the timing is right. If there's a willingness to do it, I would certainly listen. Certainly I'd look at 'Dexter,'" said Nevins.
He also said that if the reboot will push through, Michael C. Hall, who played as Dexter Morgan, will need to return.
The rumors sparked more fire when the show's official Twitter account came back to life with a post on Thanksgiving. An image of Dexter and his family is seen sitting down around the table ready to gobble a turkey. Dexter is the one holding the knife to slice it up for everyone. The words "His knife's freshly sharpened" is also written across the photo. The post is then captioned with, "Who wants a leg? Happy Thanksgiving from #Dexter!"
Ever since the post, fans have been assuming that the networks is cooking up something for them and it just might be a delicious reboot. But Uproxx noted that Showtime has no immediate plans to bring back "Dexter" even though it has been the network's most successful project.
"Dexter" first aired in 2006 and it follows the life of Dexter, a Miami-based blood splatter expert. The twist is that he doesn't just solve crimes though, he also commits them too. He's a serial killer out to take the lives of the guilty. The series aired its final episode in September 2013.
According to some critics, the ending of the series was a weak one. That is why many are clamoring for a reboot, perhaps to give the good show some justice and to turn things around for its ultimate climax.
