Diana Ross 'Loves' Evan Ross' Girlfriend Ashlee Simpson
Diana Ross is reportedly onboard with her son Evan Ross' relationship with Ashlee Simpson.
Ross, 24, was first was spotted with 29-year-old Simpson in late June when rumors of a romance mounted.
On Tuesday, Ross, his famous mother, and Simpson all stepped out together for the "CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story" film premiere in New York City, seemingly confirming Ross and Simpson's relationship.
When asked how his 69-year-old mother felt about his girlfriend, Ross said, "She loves her!"
"She's here," the actor added of Simpson, according to Us Weekly. "She's with my mom sitting down. I had them take her to a seat."
Ross' leading ladies attended the event in support of his role as Dallas Austin in "CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story," and as the premiere got underway, onlookers said the trio looked happy.
"Diana kept talking over and around Evan to Ashlee laughing and chatting and they seemed very close," a source told Us Weekly.
Meanwhile, a source close to Simpson and Ross said that the couple's romance grew from friendship that started on the "club scene."
"Evan and Ashlee have been friends for a really long time, probably 10 years," an insider at Us Weekly said. "They know each other from the club scene and have tons of mutual friends."
"It helps that they were friends first, they have a long bond," said the source added. "They already know each other really well."
Then, last month, Simpson and Ross made their first public appearance during New York Fashion Week at an event Simpson hosted for her sister's new fashion line, the Jessica Simpson Fall Campaign 2013.
In addition to hosting the NYC event for the fashion line, Simpson also served as the face of the campaign.
"I have a pretty cool sister with an amazing sense of style, and I was honored to get to do the shoot," said Simpson during the modeling stint to People.com. "We keep it in the family. Jessica's a fun one to work with."
Simpson is the mother of 4-year-old son Bronx, whom she shares with ex-husband and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz.
Despite the end of their marriage, Simpson and Wentz have been able to put aside their differences in order to be good parents to Bronx.
"I feel like we both realize that we're parents and we're in it for our kid," said Wentz during an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live."
"That's made it really easy," the musician added.
