Digby Wolfe, 'Laugh-In' Co-Creator, Dies at 82
Comedy writer and creator of "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" has died at age 82 in his home last week.
The British-born writer was also an actor, singer, and comedian who later became a professor of writing at the University of New Mexico. He died of lung cancer at home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, said his wife Patricia Mannion-Wolfe.
Emmy Award-winner Wolfe developed "Laugh-In" with producer George Schlatter. The landmark television series was an overnight sensation in the late '60's.

"I had the original concept for the show, but I couldn't sell it," recalled Schlatter, according to the LA Times. "It was too far out. I brought in Digby, who was able to organize it and articulate these wild concepts."
"Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" earned the pair an Emmy in 1968.
Wolfe was also known for his parts in television shows such as "The Monkees," "Bewitched," "I Dream of Jeannie," and "The Munsters." He offered his voice in films including "The Jungle Book" and "Father Goose."
Additionally, Wolfe wrote for musicians including John Denver, Shirley MacLaine, Cher, and Jackie Mason, among others.
A memorial service for the writer is being planned for June 10, according to the Associated Press. Friends and fans of Wolfe's will gather at the University of New Mexico, where he taught for 12 years. His 37-year teaching career also included a position at the University of Southern California.
Jim Linnell, a friend and former colleague of Wolfe's, said the writer was a "whirlwind of ideas and encouragement," reported AP.
Linnell added that Wolfe was capable of sending people into fits of laughter.
The comedy writer is being mourned on Twitter Wednesday with users posting their respects.
"Sad news in from US for nostalgia buffs," posted Derryn. "Digby Wolfe has died."
"RIP thank you for the laughs," wrote Liedertafel.
Wolfe is survived by his wife Patricia and his sister, Hilary Hammond-Williams.
