Diggy Simmons Shocks Fans by Verbally Bashing J. Cole in New Song
Diggy Simmons, the 17-year-old son of well-known musician and practicing minister Rev. Run, released another song verbally attacking the protege of rapper Jay-Z, 27-year-old J. Cole.
Simmons' "Fall Down" diss song was released on Monday, as a rebuttal to a freestyle that Cole performed at a show featuring rapper Kendrick Lamar in North Carolina recently. In his verse, Cole seemingly poked fun at Simmons' age after years of both parties exchanging verbal jabs on their records.
"Picture me hating on a young (expletive) with talent...caked out on his allowance," Cole said.
However, Simmons' decided to respond to the line with several of his own.
"I guess I rattled your snaggle tooth you know better/ Thought J stood for Jermaine not Jetsetter/ You seen me and shook my hand copping pleas in person/ now you act less than a man mentioning me in verses," Simmons rapped on his new release "Fall Down."
The 17-year-old seemed to get even more personal on the track, shocking many fans of both rappers.
"You used to have dreams of my big sister kissing ya/ Now it's nightmares of her little brother dissing ya/sneak disses and jabs I don't really see the benefit/ But I guess you're lame enough, probably keeping you relevant/ Maybe you should sign with me instead of Mr. Carter/ How you mad at me/ I got a relationship with my father huh," the young rapper questioned in his J. Cole diss.
Fans of both rappers took to Twitter to debate about the better record.
"Diggy put this rapper's career in the morgue," one person wrote after hearing Simmons' track.
Another person seemed to agree with those sentiments.
"J. Cole can't even respond he just gotta lay down on the mat and let the ref finish the 10 count," the person tweeted.
However, some people thought Diggy may have taken things too far. One person suggested that the young rapper should focus more on his education instead of dissing a rapper 10 years his senior.
"You should be in school learning how to multiply and divide fractions," one person questioned. "Why are you dropping diss tracks young man? @diggy_simmons"
Another person called for Cole to respond to Simmons and end his career on a diss record.
"Idk why Diggy Simmons even tries to diss @JColeNC," the person tweeted. "J. Cole needs to put a stop to it ASAP."
However, another person said they hoped that the issues between the two rappers could be resolved peacefully.
"I hope this J. Cole and Diggy Simmons beef doesn't end like Biggie and Tupac," the person tweeted.
