'Digimon Adventure tri.' Movie 5 Release Date, Spoilers: Will a Heartbreaking Turn Come in the Penultimate Installment?

The highly anticipated fifth installment in the on-going "Digimon Adventure tri." movie series is finally coming this September.

Things barely ever get resolved in penultimate installments; if anything, an already bad situation almost always ends up getting worse, before things get better. And since the fifth and penultimate installment of the Japanese anime series, "Digimon Adventure tri." is about to be released this month, what new levels of danger will the Digi-Destined be facing this time around?

The trailer shared by Den of Geek shows a glimpse of Kari being enveloped in what looked to be a string of Digi-codes, while the particularly ominous sight of Tai's goggles on the ground seems to suggest that something seriously bad is about to befall the Digi-Destined as a result of everything that has been happening in the first four movies.

One intriguing thing that the trailer reveals is the Digi-World, which has given access to the Digi-Destined for so long, is now viewing the kids as nothing by an interference that should be kept out, or worse, annihilated.

The trailer also teases the upcoming appearance of Omnimon as well as the fallen angel Digimon, Ophanimon Falldown Mode. The latter is the dark version of Ophanimon, which is the digivolution of Kari's Digimon partner, Gatomon. Ophanimon Falldown Mode is an Ophanimon that got so upset that it attempted to suppress its emotions, and thus ended up fallinginto madness.

The key visual art itself seems to suggest that the upcoming movie will heavily focus on Kari's feelings as well as Meiko's relationship with Meicoomon. Will the two of them be able to surpass the challenges that they will have to face along with their companion Digimon?

The first four movies of the series are currently available to stream on Crunchyroll. The fifth movie, subtitled, "Symbiosis," is set to premiere on Saturday, Sept. 30, in Japan. It will also be released in a special theatrical limited edition on the same day.

General Blu-ray and DVD versions will later be released on Thursday, Nov. 2.
