‘Dirty Dozen List’ names 12 companies profiting off sexual exploitation
Visa
In 2020, credit companies Visa and Mastercard announced that they were no longer allowing their cards to be used on Pornhub after a report found that the pornography site profited from the exploitation of rape and abuse victims.
“Given the allegations of illegal activity, Visa is suspending Pornhub’s acceptance privileges pending the completion of our ongoing investigation,” tweeted VisaNews at the time.
“We are instructing the financial institutions who serve MindGeek to suspend processing of payments through the Visa network.”
However, according to NCOSE, Visa has since re-established their relationship with Mindgeek—the parent company for Pornhub—as well as other pornography websites.
“Furthermore, Visa also allows transactions for brothels and prostitution websites,” noted NCOSE. “Visa should live up to its corporate social responsibility principles and stop buttressing the infrastructure of the exploitative commercial sex industry.”
