Amazon, Netflix, Twitter: ‘Dirty Dozen List’ names 12 businesses profiting off sexual exploitation during pandemic
Verisign
Based in Reston, Virginia, and centered on providing domain name registry services, Verisign made the list over its managing of websites that include child sexual abuse materials.
“While some other registries and registrars are working to disrupt domains associated with child sexual abuse material, Verisign refuses to take meaningful action and instead inhibits attempts to protect children,” stated NCOSE.
“This is particularly unacceptable given that Verisign is a publicly-traded U.S. company with 2019 annual revenues in excess of $1.23 billion.”
NCOSE believes that the company “must be held accountable for its inaction and poor policies that allow child sexual abuse to flourish on the .com and .net domains which they have been entrusted with to manage.”
