'Disjointed' Release Date, Casting News: Kathy Bates Lights It Up in Teaser Trailer, First Look Stills

A surprise teaser trailer has been released for the highly anticipated Netflix multi-camera comedy "Disjointed" starring award-winning actress Kathy Bates.

As one would expect from a series that will follow the story of a marijuana advocate named Whitefeather Feldman, Bates can be seen smoking a joint on 4/20.

In "Disjointed," the character of Bates has been campaigning for the legalization of marijuana for years. She ends up owning a cannabis dispensary in Los Angeles, which she calls Ruth's Alternative Caring.

She hires a group of co-workers referred to as "budtenders" including her young adult son Travis (Aaron Moten) and a security guard that could be secretly up to something.

Fans can get a look at these characters on the set of images from "Disjointed" released by Netflix. Based on these stills alone, fans are convinced this adventure will be a whole lot of fun.

One photo shows two of the budtenders Olivia (Elizabeth Alderfer) and Pete (Dougie Baldwin), who seem to be the type of people who dress for the job they want.

In another promotional still, Ruth can be seen hanging out with her son. The last one shows dispensary regulars Dank (Chris Redd) and Dabby (Betsy Sodaro).

"Disjointed" is the creation of Chuck Lorre, who produced the hit comedy "Two and a Half Men" and the ongoing sitcom "The Big Bang Theory," and former "Daily Show" head writer David Javerbaum.

The Netflix series will not be the first project in which Bates and Lorre get to work together. The actress guest-starred in "Two and a Half Men" and even won an Emmy for her performance.

Due to her commitment to "Disjointed," Bates will not be part of the upcoming season of Ryan Murphy's FX horror anthology "American Horror Story," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Disjointed" will be available to stream on Netflix starting Aug. 25.
