Disney Pepper Spray Video Goes Viral
An incident at Disney Land involving an apparently drunk man assaulting a park employee was caught on a cellphone video and posted on YouTube.
The video, which has since gone viral, was shot Saturday and it shows the beleaguered man punching a park employee numerous times, then getting sprayed with a generous dose of pepper spray as onlookers plead for the man to stop.
The man was subdued until authorities arrived and was later identified by Anaheim police as 53-year-old Glenn Horlacher.
Anaheim police Sgt. Bob Dunn said police were called to the "Tower of Terror" ride at Disney's California Adventure park at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
"When we arrived the suspect was being held by a few patrons and Disney security officers," Dunn told KGTV.
Horlacher, who was taken to the Anaheim jail, was charged with battery and assault. He was then released on a citation later that evening, according to Dunn.
"Our security cast member was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for the injuries he sustained and then released," Disney's public relations director Suzi Brown told KGTV.
Brown continued: "We appreciate the actions of the guests who came to his aid during this uncharacteristic incident."
News of the incident was first reported on the website laist.com. The cellphone video was uploaded to YouTube and has already received tens of thousands of hits. It is unclear what started the fracas, but alcohol is believed to be involved.
During the video, as Horlacher curses the park employee, a woman is heard shouting, "What are you, drunk? Disgusting." The woman continues, "There are kids here. Does this guy not get that? You're in Disneyland!"
"I know where I am at," Horlacher responds.
"Obviously not. It's time to go home, sir," she says.
There were no other reports of injury.
