Disney Teases Footage from Live Action 'Jungle Book' Movie (VIDEO)
Disney recently released footage from their upcoming live action version of its earlier animated movie, "The Jungle Book."
Following months of rumors that it was planning on releasing a live action remake of its 1967 animated movie, "The Jungle Book," Walt Disney Pictures finally launched a teaser featuring the first few seconds of the Jon Favreau-directed film.
The footage was initially shown to a select audience at Disney's D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center in California last month. However, it wasn't made available online to the general public, except for a number of movie stills giving audiences a glimpse of what the live action film was going to look like.
The recently released footage, which came in the form of a Vine, presented a closer look at the environment in the film as the camera panned around the jungle, with a brief look at a boy-shaped shadow of Mowgli with his back to the camera.
Disney's live action "The Jungle Book" is set to feature an all-star Oscar-winning cast, including Bill Murray as Baloo the Bear, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera the Panther, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa the Snake, Idris Elba as Shere Khan the Tiger, Christopher Walken as King Louie of the Orangutans, Lupita Nyong'o as Raksha the Mother Wolf, and newcomer Neel Sethi as the boy cub, Mowgli.
The newly-released footage serves as a precursor to the film's official trailer.
The live action edition of Disney's "The Jungle Book," set to premiere next spring, won't be the only adaptation of the animated classic. Warner Bros. is also getting their own version ready called "Jungle Book: Origins," which will feature another stellar cast of characters that includes Andy Serkis, who will direct the film as well as portray Baloo, Christian Bale as Bagheera, Naomie Harris as Nisha, Cate Blanchett as Kaa, Frieda Pinto in an as-yet-unannounced role, and Rohan Chand as Mowgli.
Disney's "The Jungle Book" is scheduled to open in theaters on April 15, 2016.
