DMX Recites Bible Verses in the Street to Troubled Women
TMZ recently spotted DMX reading Bible verses to encourage a woman on the street.
The rapper stopped to read the passages while outside a restaurant to a female fan that told him that she was "going through hard times," according to the publication.
DMX has been very vocal about his Christian faith in the past.
He's included at least one gospel song and prayer on each of his albums since his debut It's Dark and Hell is Hot in 1998. He normally performs these prayers during his concerts.
He's even recited scriptures in some of his songs and discusses learning how to pray properly.
DMX's faith has been questioned by some who feel that he preaches a hypocritical message by making songs for a secular audience that contain profanity, sex and violence while simultaneously claiming Christ.
His struggle with drugs was also made public when he appeared on "Iyanla: Fix My Life" to reunite with his son Xavier last year.
The host failed to reconcile the rapper with his son as he demanded that DMX stop using every kind of drug including alcohol and marijuana. The rapper claimed he had stopped using heavier drugs such as cocaine, but would not stop using the other substances as an answer to his son's demands.
DMX also made an appearance on the Dr. Phil show where he addressed his substance abuse issues.
During the interview DMX touched on his relationship with God and how it relates to his drug addictions. He claims he no longer struggles with heavy drugs but still smokes marijuana and drinks alcohol on a somewhat regular basis. However; he believes God will take them from him eventually.
"I don't have to get high," he said. "I smoke weed, I drink, yes. But that's it. And one day, that'll be gone. That'll be gone because my faith in God, man, and he's not going to remove it all at once, but he's taking steps and I'm taking steps every day to get better and get where I need to be."
