Texas homemaker-turned-lay minister and author Jennifer Wilder Morgan is sharing about her own supernatural experiences with angels in Come to The Garden, adding to the list of recent Christian-inspired movies and books such as "Heaven Is For Real" and "Miracles From Heaven."

In her new book Come to The Garden, Morgan acknowledges how sharing divine encounters can draw people closer to God. The new release also comes with an audio version narrated by Today Show Host and Emmy Award-winner Kathie Lee Gifford.

Inspired by her ministry at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Morgan felt called by God right before her 50th birthday to write about how He has been speaking to her throughout her life, mostly through dreams and divine encounters with heavenly beings.

The following is an edited transcript of Morgan's interview with The Christian Post in which she shares that angels can in fact appear to people, speak and provide guidance.

The Christian Post: Come to the Garden was inspired by true events. Can you tell us a little about that?

Morgan: The story is about a fictional angel named Margaret who takes the character Jenn on a journey through her life revealing how God has been present and speaking to her. The life events and dreams in the story are my own true experiences.

CP:  Do you think it is possible to interact with angels as we do with people?

Morgan: Yes. Angels appeared to people in human form in Scripture and still do today. In my own experience, as well as the testimonies of many others, angels can appear to us, speak to us, and interact with us in human form.

CP:  Throughout the book you spoke of a few different angels. Do angels have different roles?

Morgan: Yes. "Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?" ~ Hebrews 1:14 As ministering spirits, angels serve myriad roles as assigned by our Father. They can serve as messengers, protectors, guides … their roles are infinite.

CP:  What makes someone qualified to see angels?

Morgan: We are all "qualified" to see angels because we are God's children. If we see angels, it is because we are permitted to do so by our Father. I do not believe it is something we can will on our own, although I think it is good to have hearts and minds open to the possibility of experiencing the Divine. Angels are sent according to our Father's will, and the ability to see them/encounter them is a precious and uniquely individual gift.

"Come to the Garden" is an invitation to enter into a deep personal relationship with the Father who loves you more than you could ever imagine. You are invited to step into the garden with childlike faith, full of expectation, wonder and belief – and to discover that heaven is closer than you think.

CP: What do you say to those who do not believe in the supernatural?

Morgan: One of my favorite quotes is by C.S. Lewis, which states, "We are all spiritual beings having a human experience." I like to suggest to those who do not believe in the supernatural to consider C.S. Lewis' statement, because it turns our normal conception about ourselves upside down. We tend to think of ourselves as humans who can be spiritual, if we choose. But considering ourselves as merely human limits us. If we can wrap our minds around the fact that we are truly exquisite beings…spiritual beings having a human experience…we open ourselves to a whole new realm of possibility, allowing us to consider that we are intimately connected to the supernatural, and that the supernatural can and does act upon our lives. Believing in the supernatural is a choice that begins with giving ourselves permission to believe.

CP:  In the book you mention animals and their sensitivity to the spiritual realm. Can you explain that?

Morgan: Animals are part of creation. And our Creator uses animals to bring His messages of comfort, healing and unconditional love to His human children. I believe that animals do sense the presence of the Spirit of God.

I have witnessed this countless times in nature and in my own home with my dogs. One of my dogs had an uncanny sense that told him I was in prayer. When I prayed, he would appear from wherever he had been in the house or yard, and lay his head on my lap. I believe he knew Who I was talking with.

CP:  How can one tell the difference between God speaking and one's own imagination?

Morgan: When God speaks to me, His voice cuts through my own thoughts. It's clear, concise, and usually repeats. Sometimes there is urgency to His message that only releases me when I have obeyed Him/acted upon His request. Most often, whatever He says will be confirmed several times through events in my daily life. But most of all, I know it is God speaking when what I am hearing aligns with Scripture.

CP:  Tell us about Kathie Lee Gifford's involvement in this book project.

Morgan: Kathie Lee Gifford is the narrator of the audiobook version of Come to the Garden, and is being sold exclusively Audible.com. Her involvement is such a gift from God to me. She has a beautiful heart and spirit and I could not have had a more perfect person to put a voice to my story. It truly was an emotional experience to listen as she narrated my story with the same love and deep faith that I put into the writing of it.

Morgan has provided a free "Come to the Garden" App, available for download on iPhone and Android phones in the app stores, where readers can listen to excerpts of the audiobook, and can share their own personal stories of how they have encountered God.

Fathom Events is joining in by putting together a special event with star performers, called, "Come to the Garden – on stage" set for May 3 in select movie theaters nationwide. Come to the Garden the book and audiobook can now be purchased on cometothegardenbook.com.
