Dobson Urges Pro-Family Voters to Go to Polls
Two special broadcasts from the Focus on the Family radio program will feature one of Dobson's 'Stand for the Family' speeches, in which he tells listeners to 'vote their values.'
In an effort to get pro-family Americans to the polls, Focus on the Family radio program will devote two whole broadcasts featuring a speech founder Dr. James Dobson delivered on same-sex marriage and judicial tyranny at the Stand for the Family rally in Rapid City.
The special broadcasts will air on Oct. 25 and 26, just days before the Nov. 2 election. Around two million people worldwide listen to the radio program everyday.
During the Rapid City event, one of six rallies encouraging Christians to participate in the election, Dobson urged his listeners to vote their values and take a stand for issues that matter to preserving the family.
"We have sat here, many of us, for 35 years while the family has been battered and bruised and broken. And many of us have just let it happen, Dobson lamented. But Im telling you, nows the time to say, 'Enough is enough.
The prominent evangelical also said the voting record among Christians needs to change. Citing statistics, he said that during the last election, 25 million Christians of various stripes did not register and did not vote. Among them were four million evangelicals who failed to go to the polls.
That is an outrage. And it must not happen again, Dobson said.
Pro-family groups have been vigorously emphasizing the importance of voting since election results will also determine the direction of highly contested issues such as same-sex marriage, abortion, and stem-cell research.
To prevent a dismal turn-out among Christians and pro-family supporters this fall, a few months ago, Focus on the Family Action, the lobbying group of Focus on the Family, sent one million voter registration drives to its constituents.
