'Doctor Foster' Season 2 Spoilers: Can Estranged Couple Work Together for Their Son?

"Doctor Foster" continues in its second season as the estranged couple is tentatively reunited. Can the two put their feud aside for a time for the sake of their son?

BBC One has posted the plot for the third episode of "Doctor Foster" season 2, and it looks like the show will take a half step back from the frantic reveals of the first two episode to dedicate some time to character development.

Even with the idea of revenge filling Gemma's (Suranne Jones) waking hours, she still has her son Tom (Tom Taylor) and his welfare as her utmost priorities. How will she deal with it, then, as the boy's father walks back into their lives?

Simon (Bertie Carvel) is back, just when Gemma has started to settle in her new life in Parminster. She's way more outgoing than she was in the previous season, making time to meet potential love interests. Now all of that has to be shelved with Simon back and Tom needing his parents more than ever.

"It's Gemma and Simon, when people aren't looking after a divorce, what happens to two people who essentially still hate each other that haven't sorted out their issues, and have a child to look after in the meantime," Suranne said in an earlier interview with Digital Spy.

She might be summing up this episode's main conflict, as well. The two parents have to come together for Tom, even if they're at each other's throats the rest of the time.

The video below shows a trailer for the second season of "Doctor Foster," as Gemma once again has to deal with her estranged husband. After the events of the first season, can this couple work together, even if just for their own ends? Fans can find out when the show resumes on Tuesday, 9 p.m. EDT on BBC One.
