'Doctor Foster' Season 2 Spoilers: Gemma and Simon's Tryst Causes Troubles In His Marriage With Kate

Fans of "Doctor Foster" were in shock after the unexpected hooking up of Gemma Foster (Suranne Jones) and her ex-husband Simon (Bertie Carvel) in episode 3.

In the show's first season, the GP of Parminster exerted all her efforts to seek revenge against her cheating husband, but all her efforts appeared to be in vain after she agreed to be intimate with him even if he is already married to Kate Parks (Jodie Corner).

Gemma initially planned to film their tryst using her phone camera so she can show their raunchy encounter to Kate, but he managed to convince her to stop it. However, speculations claimed that the doctor might have a backup plan and could still unveil the truth in the future.

But Gemma and their son Tom (Tom Taylor) were also seen leaving Parminster towards the end of the episode.

After Gemma found out that her son almost forced himself on his schoolmate Isobel (Hope Lloyd), she agreed to move out of town and put her former family home up for sale before driving into a far away place to get away from it all. She also notified her ex-husband that he got what he wanted and sent a photo of the for sale sign to tell him that he won and he will never see them again.

But can Gemma and Tom really move far from Parminster and let Simon win against them?

According to the synopsis for the show's upcoming penultimate episode, Simon will finally believe that he and his new family with Kate can finally live harmoniously away from Gemma and Tom. However, Kate might have her own doubts about her husband. This could affect the couple's relationship in the show's future installments.

BBC One will air the second to the last episode of "Doctor Foster" season 2 on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 9 p.m.
