'Doctor Foster' Season 3 Release Date, Latest News: Suranne Jones Open to Reprising Role
As the end of the sophomore run of "Doctor Foster" draws near, talks about a potential third season for the hit drama have already come up.
In a recent interview with Mirror UK, series lead Suranne Jones implied that the second season will bring her character's story to a close although she is open to reprise her role in one condition. She said:
If [writer Mike Bartlett] comes up with another story then we'll talk about it. But for now, like the first one, it's got a really good, solid ending.
While "Doctor Foster" season 3 is not set in stone at the moment, Jones hopes that what the series has shown so far will help viewers "think twice about divorce and having an affair in the first place."
In a recent episode, Gemma and her ex-husband Simon (Bertie Carvel) made love in the dining room. It was one of the more shocking things that even fans of "Doctor Foster" were not expecting to happen.
Jones hopes that "enjoyed the ride of watching two people who really f—ing hate each other having to breathe the same air" and that it will serve as a lesson too.
I certainly hope it makes people think about how they conduct themselves, if they do split with somebody.
Jones also talked about how being a wife and a mother helped her acting performance in "Doctor Foster" in showing "the devastation of someone betraying that." Production for the second season started only six months after she gave birth to her son.
Also with the enormity of when you have a child, if you do separate, that something will always bind you and that actually you made that someone when you were totally in love. Then when you really hate each other, like in our story, you still have that person to take into adulthood. And you have to do it really carefully otherwise as much as you're going to damage each other and you're going to damage the child.
The "Doctor Foster" season 2 finale airs Oct. 3 on BBC One.
