'Doctor Strange' cast news: Rachel McAdams will join the movie
News about casting for the "Doctor Strange" movie has recently been revealed.
It was confirmed by The Wrap that Rachel McAdams has accepted the role offered to her for the upcoming Doctor Strange film. There were previous speculations stating that producers of the film offered Rachel McAdams a role in the movie. Rachel McAdams herself addressed the rumors by confirming that she is currently discussing the offer given to her.
And now it was revealed that she has finally accepted the offer. During the Toronto Film Festival, she finally confirmed the news to her fans. She stated, "I'm gonna go do Doctor Strange, kind of a psychedelic Marvel comic, with Benedict Cumberbatch."
She will be joining Benedict Cumberbatch, who will be playing Doctor Strange himself. There were speculations that the character she will be portraying is Clea, who is reportedly Doctor Strange's lover and follower.
Actors Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor will be joining the two. It was reported that Tilda Swinton will be playing the role of the Ancient One, while Chiwetel Ejiofor will be playing Baron Mordo under the direction of Scott Derrickson. Ejiofor previous shared his enthusiasm for the film. He explained that he is excited to be working on the film with a stellar cast, especially since he had worked with Benedict Cumberbatch before. He said, "He's a good friend of mine. So, it's gonna be fun. And Tilda Swinton — I haven't worked with her, but I'm excited to work with her. She's brilliant. I am doing Doctor Strange, and I'm incredibly excited about it."
Doctor Strange is expected to expand the universe of Marvel, much like other Marvel movies such as "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Ant-Man." The synopsis reads, "Before he met the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange was an unlikable and egotistical neurosurgeon".
Doctor Strange is expected to release on Nov. 4, 2016.
