'Doctor Who' 50th Anniversary News: Doctors 10 and 11 to Work Together?
The 50th anniversary celebration episode of BBC cult favorite "Doctor Who" is coming up on Nov. 23, and it seems as though the different doctors involved are getting along very well.
In an interview with Radio Times, the "Doctor Who" executive producer Steven Moffat talked about how the tenth and eleventh doctors, Matt Smith and David Tennant, respectively, were getting along particularly well.
"They got on like a couple of old women," he said. "They just say in the corner and gossiped the entire time."
In fact, the two doctors even came up with a way for them both to be on the show, though it was mostly a joking pipe dream.
"By the end of it, Matt told me that he'd worked out this plan that they'd both continue in Doctor Who: do five individual episodes each and three together – would that be OK? It was a nice plan. I think if I'd said yes they'd have gone for it." Moffat said.
Moffat was also pleased with how well the Smith and Tennant got along not just in real life, but on screen as well.
"The double act between them is sublime. It's one of those happy accidents – there's no reason why they should be, but they are absolutely adorable and hilarious together," the executive producer told Radio Times.
In addition to a special 50th anniversary episode with Smith and Tennant, the show will be hosting a series of celebrations for fans. The BBC website explains the celebration.
"To celebrate 50 years of Doctor Who, BBC Worldwide will bring thousands of the Time Lord's fans together for a very special three-day event, across the anniversary weekend. The Doctor Who 50th Celebration Weekend will be held at ExCeL in London, beginning on Friday, 22 November, with tickets for over 15,000 fans," the site says.
